Back In Black Football Club was back at work Sunday, applying their trade on the Gridiron with the start of the 2017 season, fresh off of their apperance in the Spring State Championship game.

Week one saw, Back In Black win their first game of the young season. In week 2, things would prove more challenging. Back In black out produced their opponent in total yardage, sacks and interceptions. However, in the contest against Go Mode, Back In Black was defeated on the last play of the game as time expired.

It was an unusually hot day for a fall football game entering week three's contest with NTB. Temperatures normally in the 70's with folks wearing t-shirts and shorts attire in the day, giving way to jackets & sweaters in the evening.

It would come to pass, that this game would end in the same manner as the last game that these two teams played for the Spring Missouri State Championship title, it would come down to the final play. The difference between winning and losing for NTB and Back In Black.

Total yardage spoke volumes in this contest. Back In Black commanded the line of scrimmage making several surgical strikes, racking up almost four hundred yards of total offense, including three trips deep into the the Red Zone - coming away with points on one of the drives.

Midway through the second quarter Back In Black broke the scoreless tie with a 67-yard reception from Dowden to Michaels that was spotted at the 2 yard line. That was followed with a successful dive play by Thomas that resulted in a touchdown for Back In Black. The conversion that followed was also acurate, Lee hitting on the PAT.

For the most part, the Back In Black offense was machine like in their approach to the game, it was almost as if they were going to a business meeting rather than playing in a football game.

Several well-executed medium routes proved beneficial to the Back In Black game plan along with some spectacular catches. Back In Black's missed opportunities on two Red Zone drives and two field goals will certainly be used as fuel in their next contest when they face the Renegades.

The Back In Black defense proved worthy, once again allowing only six points. The second and third level combined for three interceptions while the interior line contributated to the effort with several thunderous drive ending sacks, a nice contribution. Perfect symentray.

There was less than two minutes remaining on the game clock when NTB started their final drive at their own 25 yard line. After connecting on two short passes, a 54 deep yard touchdown strike followed, making the score BIB 7 & NTB 6. NTB elected to go for two points and the win. Out of a dual left formation the slot receiver broke on a skinny post, the ball was on target, into the chest area when the receiver's knee buckled, thus he was unable to gain and or maintain possession of the football which fell to the ground, incomplete. This would make the final score Back in Black - 7 & NTB - 6. That was essentially the final play of the game, as Back in Black chose to go victory formation and simply let the clock run out the final three plays.

Besides being another outstanding football game played extremely well by both teams, the thing that stands out that day was the sportsmanship and the class that was exhibited between two of the league's top tier programs. Perhaps other teams will follow the lead of Back In Black and NTB.

Respect, Love and Dignity...

Several BIB & NTB players connected after the game with socials that included barbecue pits, great food, cold beer with cocktails and crazy stories of grandeur as the sunny afternoon faded.

A first-class game - played by two quality organizations, exemplifying as well as illustrating, what true sportsmanship should look like... actually, it comes quite easily to both of these squads. Thats happens when you carry yourself as a professional, everything else falls into place.

The certainty of these two teams meeting again in a winner take all contest for the fall state championship, looks very plausible indeed.
